This week, Tokyo has a beauty story with a message that feels especially relevant to weddings: celebrating your own individuality.
The upcoming BEAUTY event at Tokyo Tower centres on the words “I LOVE WHO I AM.” For a bride gathering hair and makeup inspiration, that raises a useful question: which ideas help you express yourself on your wedding day?
What is happening at Tokyo Tower?
According to the official BEAUTY website, the event takes place on October 10–12, 2026, at Tokyo Tower’s FootTown B1 Tower Hall B. Admission is free, with advertised opening hours of 10:00–20:00.
The programme includes hair and makeup shows, beauty experiences and conversations with artists. Its central theme celebrates individual beauty and freedom of expression. The organizers’ September 25 announcement places BEAUTY within THAT’S FASHION WEEKEND, scheduled across Tokyo Tower venues from October 6–18.
For visitors planning to attend, check the official programme for the latest times and details.
What can this mean for bridal beauty?
The event is a fashion and beauty gathering. I see its message as an invitation to think about what makes your wedding look feel personal.
A wedding look can make room for a favourite lipstick, a familiar fringe or a hairstyle that feels comfortable to wear. Personal expression can be soft, dramatic, polished or relaxed. The useful starting point is how you want to feel when you see yourself in the mirror.
Rather than collecting every detail from a reference image, identify the part that attracts you. Perhaps it is the colour of the blush, the shape of the eyeliner or the movement in the hair. That gives your artist something specific to discuss and adapt.
Hitomi’s perspective: be clear, and leave room to explore
Hitomi: "Well the balance has to go hand to hand right , so for a bride to feel herself , comftrable with new techniques and beauty trends, first you have to be very open about what you want and talk it with your makeup artist , be very upfront on your wishes but at the same time leave some flexibility on the room for the possibility of making new trends part of your style , that is how you find the perfect balanced."
In practice, that might mean explaining why you love your usual eyeliner, then exploring a softer version during the trial. Or keeping a familiar lip colour while trying a different hair silhouette. Clear preferences give the artist a starting point; flexibility creates space to discover something you love.
Bring your everyday style into the conversation
Alongside your wedding moodboard, bring a photograph of yourself on a day when you loved your hair or makeup. It can help explain preferences that an inspiration board leaves out.
Three prompts can make the consultation easier:
- What feels familiar? A favourite lip colour, visible freckles or the way you usually part your hair.
- What would you like to explore? A different eye shape, a gathered hairstyle or a stronger colour.
- What helps you feel comfortable? The amount of coverage, the feel of the lipstick or how the hair sits around your face.
Your bridal hair and makeup trial is a chance to compare those choices beside your dress and accessories. Take photographs from several angles and check how the look feels as you move.
